That's right on the threads. The idea is that the LHT on the RHS cannot come 
loose under forward motion, as they tighten in the opposite direction to 
travel. Same for the other side.

As to the cubby box, are your referring to the center box, or the dash box. 
Either way, I've not seen either with any kind of notch, and I've had all 
series from 3 to 5.
