Welding hose

I was wondering if anyone knows if the plastic tube from the gauge to the
welder on a mig has to be made out of some special material or can I just go
to my local Home Depot and purchase some tubing? If you asked me I would
tell you it looks a lot like the tubing used on fish tanks. I just do not
know if Argon gas mixtures need special tubing. Thanks for any and all
replies.
