Check the local MG club. They should know of good mechanics who understand
British cars. HOWEVER, remember that the Alpine has an aluminum head. MG's,
Triumphs, etc had cast iron. So interview the mechanic and check that they
understand that aluminum requires a little more care then cast iron. When I
am having a head planned, I never use a regular shop, I have a hot rod shop do
it. You might also check out a local hot rod shop-they are used to working on
different and older cars.

After almost a year of puzzling and swearing about an overheating problem -
those of you who suggested that a blown head gasket might be the culprit

Now what to do? I don't really trust (or know) anyone locally (Knoxville) to
redo the head - which probably needs to be done. Any suggestions...

Thanks,
