Jay,
I had the same problem with my S V GT,and it turned out the
connections for either the solenoid,relay or cut-out switch was not solid.I
don't know which it was because I cleaned them all and it stopped
dis-engaging.To sum it up,I don't think a small alt. would cause the o/d to
pop off.
