That sounds like a heck of a lot of fun.... Just to say ,, The Sunbeams
Northwest in and around Longview WAS teriffick!! We met the group
already there ,at the South Sound Speedway on friday the 16th around
3pm...Oh, we could have been there eariler ,1-1/2 hour trip, but ,,at
10:30 am,, The "T" between the carbs decided to go out,, down to the
parts house and get some clamps and 6" of hose. and a plastic "T" ,
re-routed the hoses and started out. Got to a rest stop and she
dieeed.... opened the bonnet and gas was running out of the front carb,
cleaned the float bowl took off again.
Then stoped for a wreck for an hour and ,shut er off and duh .
I had prevously set the timeing and did not tighten the distributer,,,
and had to reset it again to get it going again..
Ah ha you ask when is he going to tell the story...Ta da.
I refrained from the Auto Cross because of a bad upper ball joint not
installed yet, But it wa sgreat and as Brian says the fastest 3/8 mile
in the west. There are some fast Sunbeams out there and what fun. After
the Auto cross , dinner was on our own so some of us went to the Casino
in Longview for dinner and drinks...
The next Am everone met at the Silver Lake resort for our first run , up
the mountains towards Mt. St. Helens, We met at the look out and some
watched the blast of the volcano others walked around and watched the
mounttain have rock falls. what a sight.
Then back down the mountain we went to the hotel and started the
rallye....This was great, we started off and timed out for a 3.4 hour
run but actual was about 2 hours. We went towards the coast and turned
off to cross a ferry at the town of Cathlamet Wa. over into Oregon and
up towards the ;little hamlet of Mist,, then back down to Rainer Or. and
over the Lonview Rainer Bridge.. in to Longview and to the Bogdons for a
real nice BBQ.
Sunday we all gathered at the Kalama Wa. Hot rod show and shine as we
were fortunate to find a place to have our own sine and show... after we
went to a nice spot in longview for dinner and awards... Yeh, the Pumkin
took stock Alpine 1st and feels good.
Anyway thats my 5 dollars worth and hope I didn't bore ya. We all had a
great time and to get a group of 30+- Sunbeams togather was great..
