Underneath the drainage should be a tube ending in the wheel well.
Typical English design, let the water go in and then move it out again.
Germans would keep it out in the first place, no matter how.

Hi all,

A while since I touched base, my conversion of a GT to a convertable is
taking
shape, thanks to various Beamers. My expert Welder (eldest son) found
various
corrosions that needed patches under the brackets that carry the pivot
points
for the softop. This is a metal section joining the external rear fender
and
internal section and is under the softop hinges. After removing a lot of
bog/filler I found that there is a drainage hole, with a pipe underneath
at
both sides. What did the drainage holes drain to? I can find no obviouse
way
for the water to exit.

Regards,
Steve
