If you don't have prior knowledge about your seriesI engine (what parts
were replaced), then I would take the time and perform an inspection of
the whole engine. Usually, the pistons are stamped the size oversize on
the top. You can't make judgements with a ruler, you need the cylinders
mic'd. Check the bearing clearences with the plastigauged (like Jim
Ellis mentioned). Go through everything else too. In regards to your
head, I have seen the heads planed down so much that the side cover
holes started to show through. I think that's about the limit on a head.
Does the bore have any honing marks left? I don't understand why there
is no cylinder ridge?
