gear box

I have opend a Minx gearbox (appr. 1960 mod.) and I am going to put it to my
Alpine mk4 for one summer.
Is there any possebility to check the condition of it without total overhaul?
I take some parts from the original (close ratio?) box, so I have opend the
sifter cover. Can I examine bearings and synchro parts condition any way?
