A friend of mine used to put Teflon between the spring leafs. Now he was a
steam fitter and was able to obtain teflon in thin sheets that he would cut
to shape and fit between the leafs. It was used for gasket material on
high pressure steam lines. Anyway he claimed it made the car ride
smoother. He also used spring Gaiters, which surrounded the springs with a
plastic shrink wrap like stuff, I guess to keep the dirt off. He said that
using the teflon you didn't have to use grease between the leafs which
attracks dirt.
