The Olds turbo-charged "Jetfire" came out in 1962... it actually beat the
Corvair to market. The number made in both 1962 and 1963 must have been
pretty small. The "Rocket fuel" was actually water and alcohol to keep the
detonation under control as they turbo-chraged a 10.25:1 CR engine!!!! I
don't know about the flames coming out, but running out of "rocket fuel" meant
the engine usually burnt itself up.

Yes, it was the Corvair turbo set up. Turbo "sized" for the engine CID
running with no waste gate.

Ian,
I think it was turbocharged. Maybe the same turbo that the Corvair
had.
