Success! I got my rear hubs off! I borrowed a gear puller from work made by
PosiLock. It has a rating of 20 tons. The puller uses three arms that are
locked into place by a triangular casting. The finger tips fit nicely around
the rear flange of the hub then you tighten an attached t-handle to lock onto
the flange without spreading apart. I tightened the center shaft with a
breaker bar and a pipe as tight as it would go. Then one wack on the end and
BANG. The sound took at least 5 years off my life! The other hub came off
without even banging on the shaft. Thanks to everyone that gave me advise and
sympathy during my ordeal. I've located two rear drums from a later car so I
won't need to use those spacers for my wheels. Again, thanks to everyone that
helped me out there solving that one. Well, back to the garage to replace
those rear bearing and seal.
