Jay,
My brothers late model Alpine, same description as yours below, also has the
six blade fan. He has owned it for almost thirty years. I rebuilt the engine
when he bought it. It did not appear to have been molested in any way, (it
did not have any "wrench marks" on it).

My late SV with the six'er is B39501847.
It has the non-peaked rims, license plate lights in the bumper itself, back
up lights, etc.
I'm still voting that this was a change that simply was too late in the
game to be reflected in any parts books, etc.
