I don't know if this is your problem or not, but maybe now is a good time to
ask this question. I purchased a new regulator for my '67 Land Rover from
Rovers North(It's the same regulator as an Alpine). It had a sticker that said
you must first clean the contacts before installing to the electrical system.
That is the only regulator I've ever purchased that had that info on it. My
question is... Must the contacts be cleaned for them to work properly? Are they
manufactured with a coating on the contacts to help protect them from corrosion
during shelf life? Like I said, this is the only instance where I've ever seen
reference to cleaning the contacts and didn't know if it was common practice on
a NEW regulator or not. If so, maybe your regulator simply needs the contacts
cleaned. Anyone?

Hi all: I need some advise with my car. It's a 1965 Series IV thats been
converted to positive ground. The problem is that my ignition light is on
all the time. It just went on all by itself! I've changed out the regulator
& generator with new ones, and yes I've polarized the new generator. The
problem persists! I'm baffled & frustrated, but I won't put my car up for
the winter with a problem!
Does this sound like a ground problem?
Any advise or imput is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Steve Shuttleton
