Weber carb clearance

I want to put weber carbs (DCOE 40) on my series 1. I think I need to
reposition the inner fender brace to clear the intakes. I was going to move
the mount pads and bar to the same position as on a series 5 unless someone
has some keen insight for me. Any thoughts from someone who has a series 1-4
and weber carbs? Or someone with a series 5 that had no problems installing
them? Lou
