Put the tranny in gear, and rotate the output flange a bit. This will
in turn
cause the input shaft to rotate, hopefully allowing the splines to align
between the clutch disk and the input shaft.

Subject: [6pack] tranny problem
hi, all. I had to remove the tranny to replace the ring gear. I noticed
the bearing was also scored, so I replaced it as well.
I put the flywheel and the clutch back, using the alignment tool, but we
can't seem to fit the gearbox.
it gets within 1/2 to 1 inch but no farther.
any ideas what's wrong?
thanks!
