Yes, you can do that. BUT why bother? A used door is cheap. Get
one from the proper year and drop it in. The later doors also have the
side impact beams, that give you additional collision strength and
protection.
OK, so it really isn't that much protection, given the odds are
that you will t-boned by a GMC Denali and squashed like a cockroach. But
if you have the door beam, your family would PROBABLY be able to
identify your remains without resorting to dental records.

I have a 76 TR6. Someone backed into the pass side fender & door. I

an early parts car that has a very clean door. The outside is the same,

the early door has a molded door "pull" on the top of the door & my 76

the door "pull" on the middle of the door panel.
Since my later door is trash. Can I cut the center pull brackets
from
the late door & weld in the correct place at center for the early door?
