Ryan, not sure if this is the case with yours but what happens so very often is that over tightening of the alternator belt creates too much tension and the bearings wear quickly, screwing up the armature. Do not ask me how I know this and if have personal experience! The grooves of the pulley's are so deep that the V belts has a lot of surface contact.
