Hi John,
I have shipped motors. The easiet way is to lurk behind machine shops and
dealerships to find a ready-made cradle. Many now are returnable and reused,
but there are still some wooden ones out there. If you can't find one, use
2x6 lumber screwed together in a roman numeral II pattern with the inside
dimension just fitting the sides of the oil pan and the ends a couple feet
long to keep it from tipping sideways. A tight fit will have the oil pan
bolts and block setting on the boards. You can add a ratchet strap to make
certain it doesn't work out. If you have access to a fork, the cradle can be
screwed to a pallet, then it is 100%
