There is a really good break down on this at the Redline oil web site:

Select "Products, Motor Oil" then scroll down the various
"weights" some very good information there. Personally I use
Redline 10-40 on both the TR3, and the TR6, sure it costs more but
you do not need to change it very often. I just change the filter
(WIX) and add another quart. The rest of the oil stays very
clean... give it a try.
