Hi Joe,

There are 2 O-rings and a crush washer that make the seals on the spin-on 
oil filter adapter.

One O-ring is located in a channel on the inside of the adapter. It seals to 
the center boss in the oil filter port on the engine block where the 
threaded hole is for the attachment bolt. This is an internal seal. This is 
the O-ring I think you were talking about?

The second O-ring is the square channel ring that filts into a channel on 
the perimeter of the oil filter port on the engine block.  This O-ring makes 
the external seal between the engine and the adapter.  It is the same O-ring 
that make the canister housing seal to the engine. It typically comes with a 
new canister filter.

There is or should be a crush washer under the bolt head holding the spin on 
adapter to the block.

Rimmer Bros in the UK offer a kit that has all of these seals (plus a few 
others for some different versions of the adapter).  The Cat. No. of the kit
