Sort of a misnomer. "Poor man's cam" simply because it is a "bolt on"
performance upgrade. The Goodparts complete 1.65:1 roller rocker set (ready to
go) runs $669.

You can swap a cam and its tappets (lifters) for a lot less dough ($200-$400)
but you have a lot more work to do in order to get the new cam and new tappets
in place. Plus, you might not get the full benefit of the new cam without
bumping up the compression or flowing the head (or both), increasing the
rocker ratio etc... The next thing you know you have a few thousand wrapped up
in a new engine. Hence, the impression of a "poor mans cam"
