John,

I've put a pair of seats from a 2000 Miata into my TR6. Installation
was pretty easy - I made brackets that adapted the miata slides to the
hole pattern in the floor pan. A little grinding and bending of the
miata slides (the floor isn't flat in those things...) and then just
some wrench-turning. I've got them as low as they can be, and the squab
is still a little higher than my original TR6 seats (which were pretty
worn and may have been sitting lower than stock due to age). It's a
slight annoyance, but not a major deal for me. The payoff of more
comfortable (& adjustable - '69 TR6 seats have a fixed back) seats was
worth it.
