Brian, Rick etc...

As has been discussed before you should not have to remove the crossbrace at
all to replace the fan belt. Check your motor mounts. They are probably
sagging. Especially if it appears that you have to remove the steering rack to
replace the belt. The clearance is tight but should be do able. If the mounts
sag at all then it closes that gap. See Below.

Speaking of motor mounts. If anyone has recently purchased motor mounts check
them very carefully. Especially if they came from Moss or VB (I have direct
experience with these, don't know if others sell from the same source or not.)
My motor mounts seperated with less than 5k miles on them and I have seen
another TR6 undergoing a frame off where the motor mounts seperated just
holding the engine in place. The engine hadn't even been started yet. It
appears that the manufacturer was trying to save some money and painted the
metal peices before bonding them to the rubber. The end result is that the
rubber is only bonded to the paint, which flakes under stress and then
seperates. Letting the engine move more than it should and sag as well. My new
motor mounts were letting the engine sag at least 1/2 an inch. They are not
fun to replace with everything else in place either but it can be done.
