Rick,
We have run up to 16;1 compression with the early style block/no ring
gaskets with no problems. As a matter of fact if we use a late model
block we deck it so we can use the early style gasket. I prefer using
copper gaskets from Gasket Works,( a fellow Triumph racer). There are a
lot of benefits to be had from using copper head gaskets. Read the info
on the website and heed his advice because there is some stuff you need
to tell your machine shop i.e. the RA of the deck and head surfaces.
If you are boring the cylinders also consider using a torque plate in
the process. Morty at Gasket works may be able to supply you with one.
