Upon reading the recommendation of several listers such as Bob Lang, I looked
at Mallorys as an alternative to re-curving and re-building my stock Lucas. A
much better distributor several said.
Anyone interested in Mallorys should check out the CenturyPerformance website.
They're in Reno. They have listings for British cars, including TR6.
Prices are good, 180 for dual point and 320 for a Unilite electronic with
adjustable advance.
They actually have a part number for a Unilite for cable driven tach, buit alas
its built to order at $595. Too pricey for now.
My Crane xr700 instructions include conversion of a Mallory dual point, so I
suppose that's another option. This system has never let me down. I have a
Lucas sport coil.
The dual point comes I believe with 24 degrees advance all in at 3200. This
is likely close to what I actually need. My engine mods include early PI
profile cam and 9:5 compression. This is a street car.
You still have the requirement to find a suitable electrinic tach. Lang and
Kai recently covered the alternatives on this.
mulling my options, including doing nothing as the car runs okay,
