Hi,

I'd be very careful about removing the elastic stop nut and then drilling
and cotter pinning. The bearing preload for the axles is set by a crush
collar and if you wind up tightening too much, you'll increase the preload
and shorten the useful life of your wheel bearings.

IMHO - if you have a cottr pin one and a stop-nut one, just leave them be.
As long as the bearing preload was set right and the end-float for the
axle is right, they should "just work".

As a point of information, many, many TR6 hubs were ruined in the past
when "mechanics" would tighten the outside nut to try to rememdy loose
wheel bearings. This sually resulted in the entire hub being turned to
trash when the bearings let go - usually soon thereafter.
