Listers,
I have a tale of woe and need advice. I removed the bumpers on my 76 TR6
and sent them off to be rechromed by a reputable company that offers a
lifetime warranty and a copper, nickel, chrome process. After stripping off
all the old finish, they say the main section of the rear bumper is junk and
can not be repaired and rechromed because it has an inside frame that can
not be separated for repair. They say the license plate frame is also junk
because it is made from 2 different metals and water has seeped in between
the metals causing corrosion. I am now faced with a situation of heading
into prime driving season with no bumpers or bumpers with no finish. I know
a lot of you guys have sent your bumpers off to be rechromed so they must be
able to repair and rechrome these bumpers? Would I have better luck with a
different company? Any thoughts or recommendations appreciated.
