John,

I will see if I can answer a few of your questions. I will leave the
answer to your clutch question for those who have a little more
experience than myself. See below for my answers to your questions. Let
me know if you have any questions.

 Aaron

By the way, I enjoyed the walk around.

Question: How hard is this to fix with 'body on'? Can an
experienced TR6 builder handle the fix and box upgrade
without to much trouble? Seems like a nightmare...

How hard is such a relative term. For me, the repair would have been
impossible for me to do by myself since I didn't have the right
equipment. With Rick's help it wasn't fun but it was doable and I feel
done right. His help included his welding equipment, expertise and most
importantly, his lift at home. It was a nice luxury. It would not be
fun to attempt the repair on your back under a jacked up car, though I
suppose it would be possible. In order to see pics and a time line of
the repair you are asking about go to the www.triumphowners.com/108 and
click on the pictures for the differential mount repair. The pictures
tell the tale. Let me know if you have any questions or if something
isn't clear. The site doesn't give you many characters to use to
explain each photo. Your question about whether an experience TR6
builder can handle the repair or not is purely a subjective question.
You would have to ask each person you wanted to work on your car how
they felt about the repair.

Question: At one point do most folks decide that a
floorboard should be replaced vs. repaired?

I cant speak for other people but my thinking goes like this. My car
is a driver, not even close to concours because of condition and
because of modifications. I just want my floors to be solid with any
existing rust stopped and repaired. Since people aren't under the car
looking at the floor pans very often and on the rare occasions I do
attend a car show I don't show them the floors inside the car having a
solid floor with no rust is all that is important to me. Someday I hope
to do a frame off, nut and bolt restoration of the car. When that
happens I will undoubtedly become anal about things and have to replace
the floors and do things "right". My opinion, YMMV.
