Hi List,
The day before yesterday I received and email from a man in the UK who
expressed an interest in buying my 71 TR6. Interestingly enough he
originally referred to it as a "boat". Which prompted my response
asking him if he was inquiring about my car. He emailed me this morning
indicating that yes, he was interested in the car and asked if I could
get back to him ASAP. I had no intentions of selling the car but I
suppose if someone offered the right price anything is possible.
This brings me to the reason for the post. I am wondering if this
situation sounds familiar to anyone on the list. I am leery of gimmicks
and rip offs and suspect this will lead nowhere, even if it is legit. I
also figure it doesn't hurt to exchange a few emails, if for not other
reason then to understand why someone would offer to purchase a car
that wasn't overtly for sale.
On a side note I figured that people might have some interesting
stories to pass along that dealt with unsolicited offers to purchase
their car. Maybe it happens much more than I suspect. Besides, despite
the recent postings about people enjoying top down driving, here in
Maine it snowed again last night, expected to snow Friday and Saturday
and window down driving is far, far away, not to mention how long it
will be before the TR6 sees the road again.
Cheers,
Aaron
