Oil Filter for Spin On Adapter

Hi All-

I just picked up the spin on oil adapter. It was a used unit but it seems 
very nice and it was a little less expensive. 2 Questions:

1.) What oil filter cartridge is recommended for this unit?
2.) Is there supposed to be a washer between the adapter and bolt head that 
holds it in place?
