Robert---As others have pointed out, it's difficult to remove the whole
unit with the other accessories in place. The cartridge itself will come
out the top side, by flexing the steering shaft a bit. Wipe out the
canister with a rag, while in place.

The Triumph service deparment cut a hole about 1-1/2 inches, with my
permission, to make changing the filter easier. The hole in the
fenderwell is directly across from the bolt head. I use an 18 inch
extension and rachet by going behind the rear of the tire. After one
does this chore a few dozen times, it's even possible to get a good seal
without losing any oil!

Some of us have removed the mechanical pump in favor of a solid state
electric pump. This frees up the area over the filter, and it's clear
sailing from there on.
