Adjusting it on the car is the way to go -- makes it very easy to see the
effect of your changes.
You'll need to loosen the single bolt on the side that goes from the hinge
into the hood and the three bolts that mount the hood to the main part of
the hinge (on each side of course). There is a sliding plate built into the
hood on each side that the bolts attach to so you should be able to just
loosen the bolts and then slide the hood around a bit.
If you can't get it to slide, you might need to remove the hood and take
steps to loosen up the plates. Also, the hood catch at the top may need to
be loosened to give you the play you need.
