I have recently fitted a new polyethylene gearbox cover (Moss P/N 857-125)
with a new seal set (Moss P/N 680-428). Because of the way the seal fits
the edge of the gearbox cover (the only way I can see it fitting and
actually sealing) I end up with a fitting problem with the dashboard
support. The support will not fit properly even with no carpet or underlay
and is impossible to fit with either carpet or underlay. PO installed new
carpet over an old porous fiberboard cover with no underlay.
Am I incorrectly installing the seal? Has anyone else experienced this
problem? If so, what was your solution?
