It also depends on where you move to in the US as there are regional and
sometimes city differences in gasoline. But where there is a will, there is a
way. Octane boosters are readily available or you can always make your own
special blend. Higher octane fuel is also available through fuel suppliers
(the people that supply the gas stations) some will even pump directly into
your car just like at a gas station, others will make you take it away in
approved containers.
Jon brought up the insurance angle. The Heritage certificate will definitely
help but getting insurance through a specialty insurance company shouldn't be
a problem. However, depending upon where you move in the US, getting the car
registered could pose a greater problem. If an emission test is required then
there could be problems depending upon the year of manufacture of your 2500S.
If it is pre-1974 than most emissions tests would be a simple tailpipe and
visible smoke test with no worry to emissions equipment. If it is post 1974
then you might have difficulty. Of course this all depends upon where you
move. You might have no difficulty what so ever. If your 2500S was able to
keep pace with your MOT than it shouldn't have to worry about any state that
still has safety inspections.

>There's not an exact conversion from RON octane to the U.S R+M/2, since you
need to know the MON octane to get the average. It looks like there are
comparable gasoline grades available at the pump in the U.S. and UK:
>
>US UK (BS EN 228) RON MON (RON+MON)/2
>unleaded 87 unleaded reg. 91 82.5 86.75
>midgrade 89 Premium 95 85 90
>premium 91 to 94 Super Plus 98 88 93
>
>For reference, 4-star is 97RON, 86MON (91.5 R+M/2)
