Dave, Is the "anti run-on" valve under the carbon canister still there? It affects the vacuum across the carbs on shutdown (but I'm not sure I can describe how correctly). It may be malfunctioning during running. If its been removed, maybe it somehow affected the vacuum set-up. Hopefully someone with a complete understanding of how it works can explain.
