Comrades,
Recently had the unfortunate occurrence where the dizzy revolved approx. 45
degrees ccw
when cruisin the local interstate. The vaccuum retard unit prevented it from
turning further ccw when it butted up against the block.
Replaced the points/condenser/rotor/cap/wires and spark plugs and re-timed
engine to
10 degrees BTDC @ approx. 900RPM (w/vacuum retard unit disconnected and
plugged) but engine still will not idle or accelerate smoothly.
Have very noticeable stumble upon acceleration with backfiring with
'popping'
sounds coming from exhaust on deceleration. Also need choke out to maintain
idle speed and accelerate from stop.
Any chance I caused engine or vacuum retard unit damage when the dizzy
revolved ccw?
Any and all opinions are definitely welcome.
