Mike,
A well fitted top should require some effort to latch down to maintain a
taut, wrinkle-free appearance. This gap is controlled primarily by the 2
webbing strips that span the top bows between the header rail and the deck
steel, and secondarily by where the top was glued to the header rail. There
is no mechanical adjustment otherwise; even if there were, it would throw
off all the other gaps, particularly around the windows. How are your
window gaps?
I say stop worrying and use a bit of effort to latch your top down as-is and
hit the road.
