The snow drifts are shrinking a bit so time to get some of those TR projects
underway. I've started to rebuild a TR6 short block and have decided to put
the extra effort into lightening and balancing. Today's question is about
lightening connecting rods. The Competition Manual shows where to trim
those extra grams but not by how much. A spare rod has been cleaned and
trimmed but the scale shows only a 28 gram savings. I know of a race prepped
engine that had 53 grams trimmed from it's rods.
Can some of you engine builders weigh in on this?
