Jim,
As an enthusiast the two most important things to me are Vendors who
have a complete product line and those that are in it for the long haul.
I also appreciate the smaller niche market kind of businesses.
I would suspect prior to the internet the niche manufactures were
working out of their garage making parts for themselves and their
buddies down the road. Now they are able to market products to the world
through the internet. We all benefit from these niche products and
keeping these guys in business is important to us.
I don't know to what extent you are making a living out of what you are
doing vs doing it as a hobby. I think if I were trying to make a living
or a significant supplement to my income, I might not appreciate someone
giving away products similar to what I was trying to sell. Perhaps you
might want to consider the possibility that you may be undermining the
ability of these small guys to stay in business by giving away products.
It might feel good in the short run to get something for nothing, but it
might not be good for us in the long run.
