I believe that if you know the difference between quality and inferior
TR6 parts then shopping VB can sometimes be a rewarding experience, as
they have good prices on some items. My problem is that inexperienced or
unknowledgeable shoppers usually don't know the difference and end up
with the wrong or inferior parts. My car was warmed over by a cheap or
unknowledgeable PO (maybe both) and I had to suffer enough correcting
their VB shopping not to wish it on anyone else.
My point exactly on the clutch problem. He didn't know any better than
to realize he wasn't really stranded. I assumed from his post he
wouldn't know the difference in parts either. Hopefully he'll become
educated in TR6 things as time goes by and become a wise purchaser but
until then I'd advise him to stay away from VB.
Of course, I may be wrong.

I think your criticism of VB might be a little too harsh. While their
technical support is non-existent, I've purchased a lot of good parts
from them. It is recommended practice to shop around for particular
parts by checking with other owners first about the comparative quality
amongst the Big Three (or 4). This can be done through this list or by
checking with other owners in your neighbourhood. You soon get a good
feel for which parts, from which suppliers, are the best deal.
BTW, despite clutch problems with a variety of cars over the years, I've
never been stranded - just limped home through clutchless shifting.
