My tachometer is out for repair and I would like to repaint the black metal
ring because the old paint is flaking. I tried Plasticoat Trim paint but
am not really satisfied with the result. I'm not planning to remove the
other gauges any time soon, so I'd like to use paint that approximates the
original. Is anyone listening that has successfully done this and is
willing to share info?

Also, when I removed the glass from the metal ring I discovered chunks of
dried out putty/caulk between the ring and the glass. There was not enough
material to form a complete seal, so I assume the purpose was to keep the
glass from rattling against the metal. Any suggestions as to a substitute
material?

Thanks in advance,
