John:
I used the 6mm, and they worked just fine. However, I should
mention that I replaced the fiberboard backing with 3mm (1/8") instead
of the factory 2.5mm, so the staples could be just a bit longer than
the factory staples.
When you say you are redoing them with new backing, do you mean
fiberboard? If yes, and you are using 1/8, then the 3mm staples will
work just fine.
I took the opportunity to attach a moisture barrier directly to
the door panel while I was at it (Some polyethylene sheeting). Turned
out great.

Subject: door panel staples
I'm redoing my door panels with new backing from Home Depot and the 6 mm
staples seem too long when I staple the vinyl back on. What size staples have
some of you used to tack the vinyl back on?
Thanks,
John
