FWIW, I think the spec of 1/8" is actually wrong if you have a later unit.
On the later CD175's, with more features like emissions stuff, the air
piston movement where I usually see stumbling is more like 1/32nd inch...
in other words, barely lifted.  Even a perfectly tuned, later carb will
stumble if the piston is raised 1/8 inch, in my experience.
I think the 1/8 inch spec is left over from early carbs and it just kept
getting reprinted even though later carbs behaved much differently.
