Marty---It's not too important as to whether the groove under the needle's shank can be seen. (You can split the difference so that half of it shows, if you like.) Just keep in mind that the more of the groove that can be seen, the lower the jet has to go to expose the same annular flow area. Conversely, if none of the groove shows, the higher the jet.
