Pardon me for asking what might be a dumb question but here goes. I have
rebuilt my GT6 motor for a little more power (9.3 c.r., SU6 carbs,ported
head, fast road 83 cam and header). Block was jet washed when at machine
shop (no hot tank, something about EPA), am using 160 degree thermostat,
50/50 coolant mix with water wetter, new core in radiator with extra row,
and a dual gauge (oil press/water temp) to keep track of temp. At this time
of year in Kansas it's low 90's to low 100's. During the day in traffic I'm
instantly at 210-215 degrees. On highway @ 70 it comes down to 200. At night
If you dont get hung up in traffic it will run 190 to 200 degrees. No ign.
pinging, and I don"t think I'm running lean. Is this too hot? My modern cars
temp gauges don't go into red until 240-250 degrees. If this is too hot then
I guess next move is electric fan but which, a puller and replace factory
fan or a pusher. What cu ft rating? Any other suggestions. Brad
