I've been following this thread with great interest and have this to throw
in. I replaced my rear springs with the "up-rated" springs from TRF and
decided to start getting the parts for the front end. Long story short I
talked to the folks at TRF because I couldn't find the P/N for the fronts.
Come to find out I ordered the wrong springs for my car, They are too tall.
When I went back to the catalog I couldn't tell the difference.

>From what they told me the later model cars had a short spring. The key
seems to be which trailing arm brackets (and other parts I guess) if you've
got the three notch ones get the shorter spring.

I have the TRF uprated springs on my car and they are shorter than the stock
springs. I like them a lot because they give my 6 a more atheletic stance.
I have an early (1970) 6 which is lower than the later 6s due to federally
mandated height requirements. Are you sure this isn't the source of your
height problem. One thing you can also check to reduce the car height is
the "packing" pieces at the top and bottom of the spring. These things are
there to reduce rattles but I have taken mine out without noticing any
significant increase in rattles. Removing both packing pieces should reduce
the height of your car a 1/2 inch or so. You may be able to solve your
problem by doing this instead of buying new springs. One of the things I
don't like about these "uprated" springs is the increase in the ride
stiffness. I put up with it because of the lowered stance but it is
annoying at times, particularly when crossing RR tracks.
