Walt,
The needle is just a list "press-fit" on the shaft. Once the tach
innerworkings are out of the case, carefully hold the large aluminum plate
(on which the shaft is mounted) and gently twist the needle from the center
(where it sits on the top of the shaft). They usually come off easy, so I
hope your's isn't an exception.
