Sounds like vapor lock to me. Years ago, I had a Sunbeam Alpine that used to act just like that in hot weather. I eventually learned that if I just found something else to do for an hour or two, I'd come back to the car and it would be fine. It might be worth looking at your fuel line routing and seeing if there is any place that could be getting excessively hot as the engine warms up.
