I bought new tires for my TR and took them to a local shop to be mounted.
When my wife picked the tires up they told her two of the rims were bent. I
was surprised to hear this as the car showed no signs of bent rims and the
previous tires wore evenly. When I got home, I placed the tires on the car
with the two wheels they had marked as bent on the rear. Immediately I
noticed the one tire wouldn't even sit on the hub correctly. I went ahead
and tightened the rim and them started the car (while on jacks) and noticed
the one rim was so bent the tire was moving in and out of the wheel well...I
mean this thing was really bent.
Soooo, back to the store I go and the manager agreed that both rims were
bent and it appeared to be the tire machine than did it. No argument...on
the contrary he assumed full responsibility for the problem. He's sending
the rims to be "repaired" using a press. He said I wouldn't be able to tell
once it was fixed.
Has anyone had a rim repaired after being damaged from a tire machine? If
it can't be repaired, does anyone know where I can get rims?
Thanks
Mark Martin
