What year is your car. I had bumpers off a '74 and a '76 to be rechromed. The 
shop I went to wanted a lot more money to rechome the 76 bumpers. They have a 
reinforcing plate inside the bumper which apparently contaminates the 
chroming bath so they wanted to charge more for this. I simply cut out the 
reinforcing plates which made the 76 bumpers the same as the 74 bumpers. 

The cost of replating was about $700.00 cdn

OK. Here's the question. I know nothing about re-chroming a bumper. Is it 
cheaper to buy new ones, or (refurbished) or is it worth re-chroming?
I'm in Poland Spring, Maine, where is the closest chroming shop? What do they 
charge?
